What is Flash?
Flash is a product by Macromedia that creates vector-based
animations.
Flash is the award winning design tool for multimedia
and animation on the Web.
Everything from simple banner ads to standalone Web sites
can be created using Flash.
Flash allows you to add interactivity and animation to
your web site while maintaining quick download times.
Flash files are small because they are vector based (shapes
and letters are defined by mathematical formulas)
as opposed to pixel based animated gifs such as most banner
advertisements.
Advantages
of Flash:
Flash brings the web experience closer to that
of a CD-ROM with better graphics, sound and animation
than has previously been possible on the Web with smoother
animations than animated gifs.
A recent survey shows that 89% of browsers have Flash
Players pre-installed, and all versions of browsers post
Windows 98 and Mac OS 8.x have Flash Plug-Ins pre-installed.
Macromedia keeps up-to-date statistics showing the market
penetration of Flash Players.
Macromedia’s plug-in download site is smart, fast,
and easy to use, eliminating installation frustrations.
